Mom suspicious of daughter’s spending discovers 12-year-old twice sold to foreigner

Under questioning from Col. Tanasit Kaenluem, the 6-months pregnant Urai Inphirom (seated, right) allegedly admitted meeting “Pinky” while working as a prostitute on Beach Road.

A working mother’s suspicions over her daughter’s spending habits turned to horror when she discovered her 12-year-old had been pimped out by a Beach Road prostitute to a foreign man.

Jim Sutthisomboon, 31, called police after she and six relatives apprehended Urai Inphirom, 33, and boyfriend Somjit Lasunthorn, 32, at their Mitchim Apartments room in South Pattaya Dec. 14. Jim alleged that while she was working in her car-care job, Urai twice tricked her daughter “Pinky” into performing lewd acts on a 50-year-old foreigner.

Under questioning from Col. Tanasit Kaenluem, the 6-months pregnant Urai admitted she met Pinky while working as a prostitute on Beach Road. The girl also worked on the beach during the day selling caged birds while her mother was at work. Urai said her boyfriend, who had to be treated for head wounds inflicted by the girl’s family, was not involved and knew nothing about her exploits.

Pinky told police she first met Urai in front of the Mike Shopping Mall Dec. 10. She said the woman took her via motorbike back to the Mitchim where a 50s-age foreigner identified only as “John” was waiting. After failing in his attempt to have intercourse with the girl, he had the 12-year-old masturbate him. For this, the girl was paid 2,000 baht and Urai was given 1,000 baht. Pinky told police, however, that Urai asked for 500 baht of her take for a commission.

Afraid her mother would beat her, Pinky said she did not tell anyone about the encounter. However, under further police questioning, Urai admitted she took the girl to meet John a second time, this time at his Soi Buakaow hotel room where the scene played out again as before.

Pinky’s mother said she became suspicious after noticing her daughter had more money than usual from the sale of birds. She’d bought a watch and toys and had given 100 baht to each of her friends. Jim said her daughter originally lied about the source of income, but finally admitted she’d been pimped out by Urai.

Jim had her daughter show her where Urai lived and, together with relatives, stormed the room and beat them. Police charged Urai with providing a minor for prostitution.

“John” has allegedly left the country, but police are pursuing records from his hotel to determine his home country with hopes of leveling pedophile charges.
