A Soprano concert featuring beautiful music, from the classics of Mozart to Gershwin’s Broadway, and highlighting the talents of Pamela Hinchman (soprano) and Laurence Davis (piano), will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Pattaya Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, February 9, starting at 7 p.m. This will be a fund raising event to benefit the “Spirit to Serve” charity. Tickets to the concert are 490 baht, which includes a welcome drink served at the Lobby Terrace from 6 p.m.  Students with a valid ID can gain admission for 100 baht. At the close of the concert an international “cook to order” dinner buffet will be served at the Marriott Garden Café where concert ticket-holders will enjoy a special 50% discount.

The Centara Grand Mirage Resort in Naklua, Pattaya will present an ‘Evening with Heather Small’ and special guests on Saturday, Feb. 27. The award winning singer from M People is without doubt one of the most successful female recording artists of recent years and she is coming to Pattaya. Heather will be singing live all her biggest hits including ‘Moving On Up’, ‘One Night In Heaven’ and ‘Search For The Hero’ and of course the Olympic Anthem ‘Proud’. The evening is in support of the Melissa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation and all the proceeds from the concert will be donated to this charity. Clubs and Associations

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, February 7 and everyone is warmly welcome to attend. The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The speaker for this Sunday will be Thor Halland on the subject of the Wikipattaya.com website. This talk will be followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Pattaya Players amateurs dramatics group invites you to yet another fast-paced, interactive murder mystery dinner production, entitled Café Murder at Le Café Royale in South Pattaya on Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, Februrary 21. This production is the fourth in a series of uniquely interactive theatrical offerings, written by Nathan Hartswick and directed by Ray Lightbown. Each guest will be responsible for figuring out the mystery of the night and will be encouraged to interact with the cast members who will be milling about throughout the evening. In addition, the ever-popular singing troupe, “El Duo” will be performing in between scenes. As an added bonus, prizes will be given to the most accurate and most creative sleuths of the evening.
