Goodbye 2009, hello 2010
Tens of thousands of revelers said good riddance to 2009 and celebrated the
birth of 2010 during the weeklong festivities here in Pattaya. The countdown
festival included nightly fireworks, stage shows featuring traditional Thai
dance (shown here) and performances from some of the kingdom’s top recording
artists.

on top of a mountain
Master of Ceremonies “Hawaii” Bob Sutterfield welcomed
everyone to the regular Sunday meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club on
December 27 at the Amari’s Henry J. Beans Restaurant. After the usual
announcements, he introduced Nathan Russo whose topic was about how the
dedication of a few individuals resulted in the building of school for the
children of the Hmong village of Khun Ta in Thailand.

Ten of thousands of tourists ring in 2010 together
Pattaya hotels and merchants counted up their good fortune as
Pattaya residents and tourists from around the world counted down to the new
year together. As was evident from huge traffic jams on Sukhumvit Road,
throngs of Thai and foreign tourists flocked to Pattaya to toast 2010 at
celebrations at Bali Hai Pier and area resorts.

Asia puts out strong team to defend Royal Trophy
The
fourth edition of the Royal Trophy is scheduled to take place this
weekend, January 8-10, at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi,
and is expected to be an even greater event than in previous years.

Dining Out in retrospect and prospects
Around this time of year, with another 51 weeks of 2010 ahead
of us, it is natural to think back to 2009, with its highs and lows in every
sphere. Not just dining out. However, undoubtedly it has been a difficult year
for the restaurateurs.
