Goodbye 2009, hello 2010

Tens of thousands of revelers said good riddance to 2009 and celebrated the birth of 2010 during the weeklong festivities here in Pattaya. The countdown festival included nightly fireworks, stage shows featuring traditional Thai dance (shown here) and performances from some of the kingdom’s top recording artists.

Building a school
on top of a mountain

Master of Ceremonies “Hawaii” Bob Sutterfield welcomed everyone to the regular Sunday meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club on December 27 at the Amari’s Henry J. Beans Restaurant. After the usual announcements, he introduced Nathan Russo whose topic was about how the dedication of a few individuals resulted in the building of school for the children of the Hmong village of Khun Ta in Thailand.

Ten of thousands of tourists ring in 2010 together

Pattaya hotels and merchants counted up their good fortune as Pattaya residents and tourists from around the world counted down to the new year together. As was evident from huge traffic jams on Sukhumvit Road, throngs of Thai and foreign tourists flocked to Pattaya to toast 2010 at celebrations at Bali Hai Pier and area resorts.
