Events

The Rotary Club Eastern Seaboard Pattaya (RCES) is holding a Christkindl Charity Market on Sunday, December 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Rose Garden of the Marriott Resort & Spa Pattaya.  Bring the family along, do some bargain Christmas shopping from the more than 37 tables packed with festive goods, and help the underprivileged children of Thailand at the same time.  A tombola will also be held with some fantastic prizes to be won.

A Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce Thailand (JFCCT) Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening will be held on Friday, December 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on Pattaya Beach Road.  European Safety Concepts (ESC), Holiday Inn Pattaya & Fluid Asia Pacific are sponsoring finger food, wines, beer (draft Tetleys & Kronenbourg) and soft drinks on a first-come, first-served basis from 6.30-8.30 p.m.  All nationalities are welcome and entry is free of charge; however, all attending must book in advanceBCCT members should book on-line at the BCCT website - www. bccthai.com.  Non-BCCT members should email [email protected] with the name/s of those attending.

Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is hosting a charity concert titled “A Night with the Diva” on Saturday, December 12 starting at 6 p.m. and featuring Thai singing sensation ‘P’ Amp Saowaluck.  Tickets are priced at 2,500 baht per person (pay for 9 people only when book a table of 10) and include a reception cocktail and buffet dinner from the chef’s selected menus, music from ‘P’ Amp Saowaluck and Prime Pitch Band from the Philippines, a fireworks display, and a grand raffle draw with some fantastic prizes to be won. Proceeds from the event will go to supporting the Baan Amphur School in Sattahip, an 80 year old dilapidated primary school in desperate need of renovation.  For more information and reservations call 038 428 755-9.

Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel will organize a charity concert on December 25 in aid of the Pattaya Orphanage.  For this very special classical program, two very young talented musicians, the award winning pianist Pimpanit Karoonyavanich and her brother the violinist, Piyapob Karoonyavanich, will be performing classical pieces from a variety of composers including Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy and many more.  This event will be organized to raise some money for all the children at the orphanage and tickets are on sale for THB 1,500 per person.  For ticket sales and seat reservations please contact Christopher Hlebayna via email at gm @d-beach.com or by my mobile 087 976 5154.

Clubs and Associations

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, December 6 and everyone is warmly welcome to attend.  The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort.  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting.  This week the scheduled speaker is David Gaimoise who will be entertaining us with some video clips of some of our favorite actors performing in some of their famous movies.  This talk will be followed by the ever-lively and often humorous Open Forum and an update on the happenings in and around Pattaya.  A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail.  For more information about the Sunday meeting and the numerous other weekday activities of the PCEC, see the official website at www.pattayacityexpats club.com and learn more about the many and varied activities of the club.

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
