Events

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) Annual Gala Ball, “Live and Let’s Dine, Bond Style” will be held at Aranda Ballroom, Amari Orchid on Saturday November 14. Tickets are priced at 2,900 baht and include martini or sparkling wine reception with the agent himself, 5 course dinner, free flow beer and wine, charity auction and entertainment. The Biggles Big Band, a Jazz Big Band from the Netherlands, will be performing at the Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa beachfront on Nov 17. This event is co-hosted by hotels in Chiang Rai, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Pattaya. The event received full support from the Dutch Embassy and TAT both in Bangkok and Pattaya. Tickets are 300 baht net per person including 1 drink. Dr. Giuseppe Mario Saccone, a lecturer at Asian University, will give a talk on ‘Concepts and Logic’ at the North Star Library in Pattaya at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 26. Clubs & Associations

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Nov. 8 and everyone is warmly welcome to attend.  The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort.  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting.  The scheduled speaker this week is Andrew Steel.  His topic will be “There is no business to be done on a dead planet! - A social entrepreneur’s views and experiences on the forestry sector and reforestation in Thailand.”  His talk will be followed by the ever-lively and often humorous Open Forum and an update on the happenings in and around Pattaya.  A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail.  For more information about the Sunday meeting and the numerous other weekday activities of the PCEC, see the official website at www.pattayacity expatsclub.com and learn more about the many and varied activities of the club.

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
