About 140 dancers will put on a
production of “The Nutcracker” for charity on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the
Alcazar Theatre with proceeds going toward scholarships for needy
children. The performance staged by Dance Studio School in Pattaya will
fund scholarships for children around Chonburi. The show will also showcase
several dance styles, ranging from contemporary to classical to jazz.

The Pattaya International Ladies
Club (PILC) Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held at Siam Ballroom, Royal
Cliff Beach Resort on Saturday, October 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance

The Dragon Bike Party will take
place on October 17 at Mae Rumphung Beach, Taphong, between Rayong and Ban
Phe. The party starts at 6.00 p.m. and goes till late and will feature a
variety of stalls for biking gear, Thai and BBQ food, San Miguel beer and
liquor. Entertainment will include live music on stage, a dance show and a
magic show. There is no registration fee – the party is free and the funds
raised and charitable donations will go towards Panyanugool School for the
deaf and disabled in Rayong.
Pattaya Players will once again
be hosting their annual Horseshoe Point Halloween extravaganza on Saturday,
October 31, 2009, this year entitled Spooks, Spirits and Specters.
Unsuspecting spectators will be taken on a 30 minute guided walking tour of
Horseshoe Point’s breathtaking Three Kingdoms Park, highlighting ghost
stories from all around the world. In addition to the Ghost Tour there will
be many activities, rides and games for children and adults of all ages to
enjoy. Fair-style food and drinks will be on sale all night long. Taking
place from 6 p.m. onwards, tickets will be sold on the night of the event
only. The admission price will be 200 baht per person and will come with 10

The next Pattaya City Expats Club
(PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 4 and everyone is warmly welcome
to attend. The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s
Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid
Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast
available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting
speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The
scheduled speaker this week will be the always entertaining Dr. Ian Corness,
the author of two books about expats living in Thailand, Farang and
Farang, the Sequel, as well as being a columnist for the Pattaya
Mail. He will be talking about the many differences between farangs and
Thais. This talk will be followed by the ever-lively and often humorous
Open Forum and an update on the happenings in and around Pattaya. A full

For the past 28 years the Samaritans
of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention
services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English
Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the
expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention
will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the
