Famed general, Sriracha founder honored
He founded Sriracha, owned the first car in Thailand and built the
Eastern Seaboard’s first Royal residence and each July residents remember
Field Marshal Chao Phraya Surasak Montri.
Chonburi Gov. Senee Jittakasem and Sriracha Mayor Chatchai Thimkrachang led
this year’s memorial July 1 in the shadow of the general’s statue outside
the Sriracha Municipal Office attended by city workers and local residents.
The ceremony featured nine Buddhist monks chanting, offerings given to
another 80 months and Thai folk music, traditional song and films about the
hero of the 1902 Shan Rebellion and a ceremonial wreath-laying.

Pattaya Vocational Redemptorist School kicked off its 2009 academic
year with a traditional “wai khru” ceremony in which students pay respect to
their teachers for the upcoming term.

championship 2 years ago, is taking over the rebuilding effort at Pattaya
United after being appointed as the new head coach.

On Saturday June 20, Rene Pisters, (seated centre) general manager of the
Thai Garden Resort, celebrated his birthday with family, many friends, and
colleagues. Seen are his son Anthony and wife Ploy along with Gerrit
Niehaus, (right) owner of the Thai Garden Resort, came to
congratulate him and joined in the fun. After dinner, everyone had a good
time at the Moon River Pub, where they danced the night away to the great
music of the well known Power Jam Band.

Pattaya Retirement Village

Many years ago I was attracted by a small 14th century village outside Nevers in
France. Driving in, I parked my car and found the local barber who was delighted
to have an English speaking foreigner in his shop. He brought in his two sons so
they could practice their English, and then insisted that I stay for dinner with
the family. We had lots of crusty French bread, a hearty soup and lashings of
peas, potatoes and beef stew.
