Announcements

The St. George congregation has moved to a new location - We may now to be found in the Sunday School room of The Pattaya Church which may be entered from Soi 1 on Pattaya 3rd. Rd. or from Soi 5 on North Pattaya Rd. The church is situated down the side path. All who wish to worship in the Anglican/Episcopalian tradition are most welcome to join us at 3 pm on Sunday afternoons.

The Fountain of Life Woman’s Center needs help! If you would be interested in teaching English at the FOL Women’s Center in Naklua for a couple of hours in the afternoons, please call Kathleen on 086 153 1545. The teaching requires no Thai knowledge and those interested can accompany Kathleen on Mondays to her class to see what is involved.

Myanmar Cyclone Appeal: The former PILC president Rosanne Diamente is now a woman with a mission: She is arranging help for the people in the Burma cyclone area. She needs clothes and money. If you are willing to help please contact her at 081 865 0714.

Clubs & Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, June 29. The Club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m., everyone welcome. This week the PCEC welcomes Brian Barghout, a resident of Thailand, who took his failing motorcycle parts business, and with the help of his wife, launched a business on E-Bay that now grosses 1.5 million Euros. He will tell us how he did it, and how our others can do it, if they are willing to work at it. The Bridge Club of the Pattaya Dutch Association is organizing a midsummer drive on July 20, 2008. Pairs will be formed by drawing lots with the first session beginning at 11 a.m. (players requested to arrive by 10:45 a.m.) There will be a buffet lunch with play continuing till 4 p.m. The entrance fee is 500 baht with prizes for first, second and last, and registration is open till July 15. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
