A one-year memorial service for
Stephen Blumenthal is being held on Friday December 14 at
the Mercy Center 7/11 Moo 11, Nong Yai Soi 8, Nong Prue,
Banglamung, starting at 4:30pm. Steve died suddenly last year at
age 41 leaving a wife and 2 young children. Friends and family
are invited to attend the memorial service and afternoon tea; to
give thanks for the life of Stephen, a loving father and loyal
friend, and to thank you all for your help over this past
difficult year. You will also meet the children of the Center
who benefited from your generosity, in accordance with Stephen’s
wishes. For those who would like to contribute in his memory so
that the work may continue, donation boxes will be available.

The next meeting of Pattaya
City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, December 16. The
Club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant
on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari
Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a
buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Everyone is
warmly welcome. Each week, a guest speaker will provide an
informal but interesting talk on a wide range of topics. This
will be followed by the ever lively Open Forum and update on
happenings in and around Pattaya. A full report appears each

For the past 28 years the Samaritans
of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis
intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking
unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7
days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.
English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will
provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services
on the phone. All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis

The Royal British Legion, Chonburi
Thailand Branch is now up and running at Tropical Bert’s.
You do not have to have served in H.M. armed services to join as
long as you support the principles of the Legion you are more
than welcome. All members receive a 15% discount every day at
the bar and we have a get together every Sunday lunch (free
