Tropical storm Toraji pounds Pattaya
During one of the worst thunder storms to hit Pattaya this
year, trees, lamp posts and sign boards were uprooted and strewn all over the
beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien.

10-wheel truck struck by train
The driver of a 10-wheel truck had a lucky escape during the early evening of
July 8 when a locomotive struck his vehicle as he was crossing the railway line
at Soi Nong Manao, in Ban Nong Sadao.
Witnesses told Banglamung police that the Isuzu truck, which belonged to Pattaya
Chaithip Company and whose driver was later identified as Preecha Thongkham, age
33, a Banglamung local, had tried to drive across the rail track before a loud
crash was heard.

Back home and happy – thanks to Rotary
How tragedy can be turned on its head! The Rotary Club of
Taksin-Pattaya was contacted two months ago by the Social Services Director
at Nongprue Sub-District, asking for help in restoring a family home that
had been damaged by a fire, leaving the family homeless. Secretary Bob
Denzil headed up the committee responsible for taking on the task and just
two months later the house has officially been handed back to the family.

Pattaya staged its own petanque competition on June 29 as part of the run-up
to the 43rd World Petanque Championships that will be held in the city
