90 vocational students presented with beauty course certificates

Klao Kaesa Beauty School distributed certificates to those who had successfully completed a course on beauty, makeup and hairdressing skills at a ceremony conducted at the Montien Hotel on December 13.
Formally opened by Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn, the event was hosted by Klao Kaesa director Srongpol Phoosaensa-Ad.
A total of 90 students completed the course and will take their skills back to their own shops and enterprises. Niran said that increasing the level of professionalism would help to enhance Pattaya’s image in this important sector.
Klao Kaesa Beauty School is located in Central Pattaya and offers a range of beauty courses. Srongpol is also chairman of the Thailand Beauty Association, Eastern Region.


Canon teaches creative use of digital cameras

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co Ltd organized a tourism photography training course for users of digital cameras over the period December 1 to 3, in association with city hall, Banglamung Cultural House and the Nana Leader newspaper.
In addition to providing training in photographic work, the course was also designed to promote Pattaya’s tourist attractions.

Songkram Powilai (right), one of the instructors during the 3 day course, took students to the top of Pratamnak Hill to shoot the sunrise.
On the first day, four specialists talked about technical aspects of photography and how to get the best use out of a camera. On day two, a supervised trip was made to the 10th floor of Mike Shopping Mall, where the photographers were able to take a large variety of pictures of the ocean, boats, and the city.
Sunset on the same day saw everyone at the Prince Chumporn Khetudomsak Monument at Pratamnak Hill for some atmospheric shots. Many participants stayed on the mountain for night shots and pictures of the sun rising.
The final day saw participants at Pattaya City Hall where they discussed their experiences and received an honorary certificate from chief royal photographer Nom Pongkanchananukul and Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh.
Participants said they had learned how to use the camera programs, modifying the settings to take a variety of different style pictures. They had learned how to work under different light conditions and how to take imaginative photographs of well-known locations. They all felt that the course had been an enriching experience, allowing them to use their digital cameras in a more creative fashion.

School stages energy saving project

Phothisamphanpittayakarn School staged an energy and environmental conservation project on December 7 in order to encourage the students to save power at the school.
School director Prasit Laungprasert said the project was organized when the expenses for water and electricity began to increase.
Students learned how to use electricity the right way to get the most use from it. An expert from Laem Chabang Sub-district Municipality was on hand to explain the best methods for economical usage.

Santa visits Ban Mabprachan School

Santa Claus visited Ban Mabprachan School on December 15, with a little help from the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa, Taksin-Pattaya Rotary Club and Rayong Rotary Club, distributing gifts to the children from kindergarten class level to primary school class 6 while his helpers served lunch.
The visit was undertaken as part of the Marriott’s Spirit to Serve project.
Along with the lunch and ice cream, the pupils enjoyed games with prizes to be won, and then came the big excitement of Santa handing out presents from his bulging sack.
As a thank-you to the visitors, the pupils put on a drum and dance show that drew much applause.
The Spirit to Serve project is conducted by Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa to help the underprivileged people of Pattaya, and its activities include serving school lunches and awarding scholarships.
Mabprachan School comes under Chonburi Education Department Zone 3, and is located in Pong Sub-district. It has classes ranging from kindergarten to primary school class 6 levels. At present there are 105 students and eight teachers, with Somsak Duangcharoen as school director.

Students at Mabprachan School concentrate in a fun and amusing competition before they received a gift from Santa Claus and had lunch together.

The little children were mesmerized by the gifts they received from Santa.

Mabprachan students truly enjoyed their delicious Christmas meal.
