Year of the Dog celebrations a howling success
Mayor Niran Watthanasartsathorn
sounds the gong to ring in the Year of the Dog at Bali Hai pier in South
Pattaya. Pattaya came alive with lion dances, beauty pageants, a star-studded
show and lots of fireworks on January 28, the eve of Chinese New Year.

East Water promises water supply problems will not occur in future
No water supply problems are anticipated this summer, with
the completion of East Water’s water feed system from the Bang Pakong River to
Bang Phra Reservoir, which has already started to ease the supply shortages in
the Eastern region of the country.
Other plans are also operational, with a second pipeline between Bang Pakong and
Chonburi due for completion in 2007.

Norwegian magazine does swimwear
model photo shoot in Pattaya
Norwegian men’s magazine, Vi Menn (which means: We Men) was here in Pattaya
last week to do the photo shoot for their annual supplement.
Vi Menn sells 100,000 copies a month, and with Norway having a population of
over 4 million, that makes it the best selling publication per capita in the
world.

Asian University’s presents their Green Jacket Award
On January 25, Asian University presented its special
‘Green Blazer’ sporting achievement award to Miss Sinsupa Wannasuth (Mink),
a first year BBA student. This was the first time that this prestigious
prize, presented only to students who have achieved the highest distinction
in sports, has been awarded.

King’s Cup polo tournament set
to help Pattaya become the ‘City of Sports”
Last month at the Siam Polo Club, the inaugural Kangaroo
Cup, heralded the start of a prestigious period for the sport of polo in
Thailand. Whilst the event was a fairly amicable affair, contested amongst
members of the Siam Polo Club and the Kuppa team, the real purpose behind
the tournament was to promote the forthcoming King’s Polo Cup 2006, which
begins on Monday, February 6 and is being jointly held at Horseshoe Point,
Pattaya and the VR Sports Club near Suvarnabhumi international airport.
