Pattaya office will be model for nationwide development

Narisa Nitikarn
Pattaya’s Immigration Office with its new premises and services is to act as a pilot project for Immigration services nationwide, and as part of the program Burapha University is to carry out a survey of the office’s activities.
Superintendent at Pattaya, Pol Col Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai on January 11 gave a presentation at the new premises on Jomtien Beach Road, Soi 5, to Dr Kowit Krachang, deputy director of the Graduate School of Public Administration at Burapha University, and his assistant Vallaop Supthpun.
Pol Col Ittipol said that the immigration office had moved its location from Soi 7 in Pattaya to Soi 5 Jomtien Beach Road on December 6. The old location had become too small and it was surrounded by beer bars. Construction of the new premises took about eight months.

The new premises have been well received by tourists. Ittipol said the offices are larger and the service methods much more advanced than any other Immigration office. Officers work with the private sector such as hotels and hospitals that provide details of guests and those receiving treatment, which also facilitates their job.
Dr Kowit said that he sees continued development through cooperation of officers and the private sector and the move to the larger premises as well as speedy service provisions that creates a good image for Pattaya.
Dr Kowit said that he had been assigned to come and see Pattaya Immigration police operations by Pol Gen Chidchai Wanasatit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice who himself had been assigned by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra under the project to develop Pattaya Immigration Office as a pilot project for immigration offices nationwide over a two-year period.
The first phase was to be carried out over a seven-month period to gather information and research and find any flaws within the system so they can be amended.
The new Immigration Office details: Pattaya Immigration Police, 75/265 Soi 5, Jomtien Beach Road, Moo 12, T. Nongprue, A. Banglamung, Chonburi, Tel. 0 3825 2750 – 1, www.pattaya-immigration.com

Organising Committee meets in preparation of the Skål World Congress

The Organising Committee including the PCO and members of Skål Pattaya at the Rabbit Resort.

By Congress PR Committee
Pattaya will play host to the 67th Skål World Congress to be held on the 15th until the 20th of October this year.
To this end, preparations are well underway and meetings are held on a regular basis to ensure that every aspect is planned to ensure maximum success of the event.
Last week Andrew Khoo, president of Skål International Pattaya & East Thailand chaired a meeting of the organising committee at the Rabbit Resort to review the updates and discuss various matters.

Andrew Khoo presents Panga Vathanakul with her certificate of membership to Skål International Pattaya & East Thailand.
Other members of the committee included Panga Vathanakul, Michael Swart, Ingo Rauber, Paisan Bundityanond and Peter Malhotra. The Professional Congress Organisers (PCO) team led by Joan Sarasin of Convention Organisers Co. Ltd. included John and Kate Sarasin.
Organising a congress of such a magnitude is no mean feat. If all goes well, Pattaya should see more than 1500 delegates plus their families attend the congress.
This five-day Congress is hosted by a different country each year, thus offering members and their companions the opportunity of observing first hand the travel and tourism industry potential of other countries.
Skål is the only international organisation that encompasses more than 500 clubs in 87 countries bringing together all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Members are the industry’s managers and executives, so the success of any congress will ensure that these decision makers will promote the destination, ensuring growth of travel and tourism to that region for a long time to come.
Not only will the members come to Pattaya for the 5-day congress but that many of them will arrive earlier to visit other parts of Thailand and neighbouring countries as part of the pre-congress programmes. To add to this, hundreds of delegates will also stay on for a period of time and take advantage of the post-congress tours.
Thailand has Skål Clubs in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and on Koh Samui with plans to set up one in Hua Hin in the near future. All these clubs will help play a part in promoting and hosting our visitors.
Thailand and especially Pattaya will put on their best as 2006 also sees the celebration of the 50th year of Skål in Thailand and to top it off the Kingdom is celebrating the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.
Special events to mark these occasions have been planned and our guests are in for a real treat.
