Police patrol Walking Street looking for football gamblers

You can watch, but you can’t bet

During the opening match of Euro Cup 2004 between the teams from Portugal and Greece last Saturday morning, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jongrak Juthanont, National Police commissioner Region 2, along with Superintendent Pol. Col. Kamolchai Tiengrungroj, deputy superintendent, Pol. Lt. Col. Sakrapee Preawpanich of Pattaya police station and a squad of police officers patrolled South Pattaya’s Walking Street, inspecting bars and restaurants in an attempt to quash betting on the game.

The effort was part of the national campaign against football betting.

Canadian youngsters make surprise visit

Every Friday for a number of years, Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) members have been meeting at the Garunawayet home for disabled women just outside of Pattaya. On a rotating basis, a small group of the 250 residents of the home receive a special treat.

The Rotary Club Taksin Pattaya after four years of existence finally has a woman at the helm.

Marliese Fritz, who for a long time was a member of the Rotary Club Jomtien Pattaya before moving to the mainly German-speaking Taksin Club as treasurer, is the new, charming and energetic president.

Pattaya International Hospital donated exercise equipment, which included weights, exercise mats, skipping ropes, exercise bicycles, and rowing machines at a total cost of 32,250 baht to the Banglamung Boys Home under the care of the Social Welfare Development Department. Mrs. Busakornrat Kittipat received the equipment with extreme gratitude on behalf of the children.
