Government eyes nightspots for energy saving closures

The government announced on June 4 that it could order the early closure of entertainment venues in order to bring down fuel costs, as the Ministry of Energy conceded that its energy saving measures had been largely unsuccessful.

Speaking after a joint public-private sector brainstorming session on how to save energy, Cherdpong Siriwit, permanent secretary for energy, announced a shift in focus in the government’s energy saving campaigns. Whereas in the past the government had relied almost solely on public cooperation, it would introduce more obligatory measures to cut fuel consumption.

A-one opens new conference room and upscale pub

The A-One Royal Cruise Hotel on May 27 celebrated the opening of its new ‘Supannahongse’ conference room and its latest luxurious pub and restaurant, ‘The Boat Music Place’.

Banglamung District Chief Surapol Tiensuwan presided over the opening ceremony, at which many VIPs attended, including Santsak Ngamphichet and Niran Wattanasartsathorn.

Devout Buddhists celebrate Visakha Bucha Day in Pattaya

Visakha Bucha Day is considered the holiest of days in the Buddhist calendar and is commemorated on the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 6th lunar month. On this day each year Buddhists mark The Lord Buddha’s passing from this life 80 years from the day of his birth 2547 years ago. This year it was celebrated on June 2.

Propen Manufacturing, a Californian Cedar Products company (CCPC) recently held a Board of Directors (pencil products group) meeting of the pencil products group at the Rose Garden Room of the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa. Twenty-one attendees in the meeting were from Propen Co., Ltd. TCW and CCPC. The meeting’s aim was to update all managers on the company’s progress toward strategic goals and objectives to review the current key challenges and to create action lists for follow up. Propen Co., Ltd. with head quarters in the U.S.A. produce pencils from order and export for CCPC customers around the world.

Muay Thai action hits center ring in North Pattaya

Hot Muay Thai action exploded in center ring last Tuesday night as boxers throughout the region gathered at the North Pattaya stadium to take part in a string of matches. The boxing tournament was held to raise funds for the construction of a meeting room for the Pattaya Department of Prosecutions.
