Everyone had fun at Tom Zofkie’s birthday party at Shenanigans

A casual birthday party for Tom Zofkie was held at Shenanigans on August 11. As can be seen from the photos, everyone had fun.

Newly proclaimed Scottish golfer “Tomdraig Zofkieo’herity” dons his gear and plays his part to perfection at his birthday party.

Since Tom is developing a new found interest in golf, the Scots in the group, Dave and Pauline Morrison, thought that it was appropriate to instill upon Tom some Scottish golf heritage. They gave him a Scottish hat and red hair wig so he can look the part of a Scottish golf pro.

Tom is certainly not the bashful type, so he proudly donned the hat and wig and pretended he was a Scotsman for the rest of the evening!

Tom and his wife Susie moved to Pattaya from Ohio in the USA, in January. They have quickly learned to enjoy life in Amazing Thailand, and are making Thailand a land of even more smiles!

Pattaya talent helps PGF charity surge over the million baht mark

A fantastic array of talented artists performed for over 200 guests at the recent Boyz, Boyz, Boyz talent contest. With 17 acts showing off their skills in dancing, lip sync and comedy, the judges had a very difficult task in choosing the eventual winner from each category.

The show lasted over 2 hours and managed to raise a staggering 124,000 baht, which was absolutely fabulous. Thanks are due to Ambiance Hotel and BBB for the trophies, prize money and main raffle prizes. Other local businesses including Le Cafe Royale, Poseidon, Casa Pascal Topman, Mata Hari and Cache provided prizes for the lucky draw.

The money raised during the evening will go towards the regular donations made by PGF to HEARTT 2000 to help purchase much needed HIV/AIDS anti retroviral medication for those being treated by Dr Philippe Soer here in Pattaya and Dr. Jureerat in Chonburi.

This year from January to August the Pattaya Gay Festival has now raised over 1 million baht and in the same period has made donations of 1 million to the HEARTT 2000 foundation for the purchase of life-saving medications.

Diana Institute of Development hosts MC training day at the Diana Garden Resort

Songklod Kaewvisit

The Diana Institute of Development (DID) recently held a seminar to train masters and mistresses of ceremonies. The importance of an MC at any function cannot be understated, as the emcee relays information to the crowd, guests and or spectators and plays a vital role in the success of a particular function.

Wannapa (Ju) Wannasri, famous for her emceeing in the Thai language at a number of city organized events, led the inaugural training session at the Diana Institute of Development.

Seeing the need to train potential emcees for the many functions that Pattaya hosts each year, Wannapa (Ju) Wannasri (see last week’s “Local Personality” column), who quite often represents the city, emceeing in Thai at a number of functions, ran the inaugural training seminar. Attendees ranged from TV presenters to novices and those who quite often play the role as MC at local city functions.

Pattaya Mail’s Tony Malhotra (right) and friends truly enjoyed the training. Perhaps someday Tony will step into his father’s shoes to emcee city events in the English language?

Attendees learned the important aspects of keeping a crowd interested by making sure everything runs smoothly. All those attending said it was a worthwhile afternoon to learn more about the art of being an MC. Further seminars are scheduled in the near future.
