Rewat Ponlukin, Chonburi provincial councilor and deputy chief of the PAO presided over the wedding ceremony of Sub. Lt. Penntam Pattamachinalai and Anchalee Pretpring, a schoolteacher from Pattaya School No. 7.

The wedding was held at Montien Hotel Pattaya on January 4 amongst many guests, including friends and relatives who were there to congratulate the bride and groom. The highlight of the party was the “Lodsum Krabi”, a typical Thai Navy ritual. Then the bride and the groom gave a small speech thanking all those who attended.

The international Danish New Orleans Jazz band, Doc Houlind and the All Stars played to a capacity crowd at the Jomtien Boathouse last Thursday night. It’s been almost 18 months since the band played a gig in Pattaya and judging by the crowd the enthusiasm for the Doc’s brand of high falutin’ New Orleans Jazz and Dixieland hadn’t disappeared with time. The quartet played some favorites while adventurous couples graced the dance floor for each set.

Doc Houlind (on trumpet) and the All Stars played to a packed house at the Jomtien Boathouse last Thursday night.

This time round, Doc and the All Stars entertained the audience with a full quartet of drums, clarinet, keyboards and trumpet with some classic ragtime sounds and upbeat Dixieland. Yet another great performance by Doc Houlind and the All Stars and a great draw-card for Ib and Kannika Ottessen’s Jomtien Boathouse to prove Jomtien Beach is on its way to becoming the new entertainment venue.

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) held their monthly luncheon at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club on January 7. As this was the first meeting of the year, the club took the opportunity to celebrate Australia Day, which is on January 26.

PILC parades their hats at the club’s monthly meeting held at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club.

PILC’s president, Laurence Fatus commenced the meeting by thanking everyone for attending, and wishing the group a happy New Year.

Sandy Langford and Bronwyn Little Carey then explained what was on offer for the day, using “Aussie” slang that seemed enigmatic to many.

All ladies who were wearing hats were asked to parade in front of the group, with prizes also being awarded. Then the women were then treated to a traditional mouth-watering Australian “barbie” (for those who aren’t familiar with the Aussie term, it means barbeque).

The meeting ended with a “chook” raffle, with all proceeds going towards PILC activities.

The picturesque location seemed perfect for the day’s celebration and everyone took this chance to relax and mingle with other members and guests.
