Located in Bangkok, MTD Taxila is one of the finest fashion schools in Thailand. On Sunday, August 25, the school held a fashion show “contest” at Big C. Held throughout the nation, these contests are put on to showcase the talents of up-and-coming Thai fashion designers. Pattaya was chosen to represent the region of Chonburi.

IFHS 02: the show with everything

September 11-14 marks the l0th edition of the International Food and Hospitality Show (IFHS) in Bangkok and the organizers are promising the most comprehensive event yet to celebrate the occasion. It covers every single segment of the food and hospitality sector: hotels, catering, restaurants, wines & spirits, bakery, and retail. IFHS has, over time, grown to become the defining international hospitality show for Thailand, bringing together trade-only visitors and exhibitors both local and international. Last year the event attracted 12,319 trade visitors from 46 countries.

The show features leading names from the industry, with exhibits from across the world for all facets of the hotel, food retail and hospitality industry, including food, beverages, services and equipment. Over 300 companies from 25 countries will be present.

Complementing the business end of the exhibition is the usual top-class series of conference programmes, seminars, salon culinaires, demonstrations and competitions. The Thai Hotels Association’s 4th Hospitality Industry Congress looks at ‘New Trends in International Hospitality’ with a comprehensive three-day programme. And the Thai Restaurant Association themes its conference “Developing Thai Food for Better Quality”, backed up with the Thai Food Festival and chefs’ food demonstrations.

In a market where retailing is rapidly changing to reflect international trends, the Retail Thailand segment of IFHS 2002 is another must. It covers systems, equipment and new technology for point-of-sale and logistics, for large supermarket operations, independents and convenience stores alike. Also concurrent with the show is the Thai Retailers Association retail conference, as well as the EAN Thailand Institute seminar on Opening a Window on the World of Retail.

Wines & Spirits Thailand hosts the international wine competitions, the unique Wine Village and a series of wine seminars led by the country’s Food Science Technology Association.

Also closely involved with the show are all Thailand’s leading hospitality industry agencies including the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries and the official national associations of chefs, retailers and restaurateurs.

With this level of support and the range of accompanying events, the picture of a uniquely original show is complete, combining business with pleasure, fresh ideas with solid trade know-how. IFHS in Bangkok is the one food and hospitality event this year that no one should miss: it’s the show with everything, for everyone.
