Thousands participate in Beach Clean Up Day

Thousands of Pattayans participated in a Beach Cleanup Day honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late HRH Princess Sri Nagarindra the Princess Mother.

Thousands of local residents combed Pattaya Beach on June 6th, picking up trash as part of the city organized Beach Development Project commemorating and honoring the late HRH Princess Sri Nagarindra the Princess Mother.

Pattaya Mayor Pairat Suttithamrongsawat presided over the opening ceremony, which also marked the anniversary of the late Princess Mother’s birth 100 years ago on 21 June 1900.

Local residents joined members from the government administration, the business community, charitable organizations and different schools from the area in a combined effort to collect trash and discarded items along Pattaya Beach.

Realizing the importance of tourism to the local area, which provides inhabitants with their main source of income, the project was initiated to increase environmental preservation awareness.

The ceremony for the Princess Mother and the Beach Development project was a continuation of “World Environmental Day” appropriately honoring the Princess Mother’s many great deeds and genuine concern for improving society and the environment.
