Christmas: Time For A Cool Yule

What is Christmas all about really? To the millions of Christians around the world, it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Saviour of a doomed human race. The festivities, the culture, the folk-lore and the rituals have, over the years, tended to dwarf the historical significance of the arrival of a boy-child born of Mary and Joseph in a small room in Bethlehem.

To the world’s more fortunate children, starry-eyed on the 24th of December every year, Christmas Eve represents the arrival of a jolly fat man, racing through the heavens on his sleigh drawn by reindeer, taking the fast lane out of one of the world’s northern-most town, up near the Arctic Circle.
