Pattaya declares war on
disease-carrying mosquitoes

Urasin Khantaraphan
Pattaya has declared war on mosquitoes, sending workers armed with insecticide
around the city daily to combat dengue fever.
Workers from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention are targeting
high-risk areas and educating home and business owners on ways to reduce
mosquito populations, such as removing any standing water from their property. A
3-man crew was out working on the Thepprasit Road side-street areas Sept. 8.
While spraying, workers urged residents to eliminate any standing water where
mosquitoes can lay eggs. Tubs and buckets should be covered, they said.
Communicable diseases, epidemics and health hazards are regular conditions in
many areas of the country and upon consideration, it is quite evident that most
of the diseases have similar characterizes, symptoms, timing of occurrence,
area, personnel and risk factors.
