Sweet Mullet and Paradox kicked off the week-long Pattaya Countdown that
saw hundreds of thousands of people converge on Bali Hai Pier to usher
in the New Year.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Chonburi PAO President Wittaya Kunplome
launched festivities Dec. 25 with lighting of the city Christmas tree.
The week-long series of concerts attracted a full playbill of top-name
Thai artists, including Ab Normal, Kala, Bodyslam, Klear, Da Endorphine,
Mild, and Chin Chinawut.
The finale, Dec. 31, featured rockers Buddha Bless, Modern Dog and Big
Ass.
“Pattaya Countdown has been held for many years to attract local and
foreign tourists, which helps boost the economy in Pattaya,” Itthiphol
said. “Each year, a large number of tourists attend the event and, this
year, hundred of thousands are expected to attend, bringing in more than
200 million baht.”
