It’s that time of year
again, when the rains are quickly followed by mosquitoes and the
dangerous outbreak of dengue fever. Shown here, a city worker sprays

malaria. City officials have been visiting area neighborhoods in an
attempt to educate the public about this health threat.

Doctors and city administrators visited neighborhoods from
Naklua to central Pattaya to provide health-care services and help stamp
out disease-carrying mosquitoes.
The June 28 “Doctors at Home” event in Pattaya “Zone 1” saw city workers
distribute mosquito-abatement pellets to drop in standing water and
spray properties with insecticides to kill mosquitoes, the prime
carriers of dengue fever and malaria.
Doctors from Pattaya Hospital, meanwhile, offered checkups and eye
exams, administered medications and provided health advice to residents
unable or unwilling to visit the hospital.
Other services on offer from the mobile-government unit included
collection of recyclables, pet vaccinations and advice on taxes and
property registrations.
