Banglamung Police officer arrested for drug dealing

Boonlua Chatree
A Banglamung Police officer set for promotion won’t be getting his stripes after being arrested for allegedly dealing drugs from his bungalow.
Sen. Sgt. Maj. Sumran Thupthimthet, 53, was taken into custody March 27 outside the SR House Bungalow. He was captured in possession of 10 methamphetamine tablets and investigators found another 85 ya ba pills and 0.6 g. of crystal methamphetamines hidden inside.
Police said Sumran confessed to purchasing the drugs from a Trat man for resale. He also failed a drug test and was charged with illegal use of a Class 1 narcotic.
The arrest of Sumran, who was set to be promoted to captain March 29, came after officers captured Watchornchai Duangmaung, 16, selling two ya ba tablets from an apartment at SR House, which the Sumran owns. The teen told police he bought his drugs from the police officer.
Sumran has been fired from the police force and was denied bail.
