BANGKOK, 31 May 2012  – The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects a huge flow of foreign revenue into the country during the 3-day international gathering of business people in Bangkok.

TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni said that the 21st World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia, which took off in Bangkok on Wednesday will positively enhance the image of Thailand as a safe and convenient country.

Mr. Suraphon added that the hosting of such a large scale meeting, with more than 400 leaders and policymakers as well as business people from all over the world will convince travelers that Thailand is a worry-free tourist destination.

And in order to seize this chance to promote Thailand’s tourism industry, Deputy PM and Tourism Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa has been invited to a meeting of TAT and target delegates to discuss the improvement of the country’s major money-making sector.

By the end of the WEF on East Asia on June 1st, the TAT estimated that the event will generate at least 4 times the revenue normally earned by regular travel businesses.
