TAT expects to see 2 trillion baht tourism revenue in 2013

BANGKOK, 7 January 2013 The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is expecting to see at least 2 trillion baht revenue from tourism industry in 2013. 

The TAT has launched a traveling campaign to further boost the tourism industry of Thailand. The campaign focuses on visiting famous temples in 19 central provinces of Thailand. After launching a temple-visiting caravan tour, TAT Governor Surapol Svetasreni said he expected to see tourism revenue of 2 trillion baht this year, believing the campaign would help the country reach the goal.

The caravan comprised 37 buses, with over 1,200 people joining the tour program, which offers 10 different routes into the central region including the provinces of Phetchaburi- Prachuap Khiri Khan or Nonthaburi- Ang Thong.

Travelers can choose whether they want to stay overnight or do a day trip. It is a cooperation between the TAT, the Kanchanaburi Chamber of Commerce, and 47 entrepreneurs.

The aim is to provide opportunities to Buddhist people to visit temples and wish for luck for the new year.
