Satun hard hit by heavy rains, warned of landslides

SATUN, 23 November 2014 – All districts in Satun are warned of landslides, especially in flood-prone areas, after the province were hit by heavy rains since Friday.

Satun governor Detrat Simsiri said those who lived in Tambon Kamphaeng and La Ngu district as well as the areas along the Andaman coasts should be cautious of the natural disaster. Small fishing boats and tourist boats were prohibited from setting sail, said the governor.

The provincial disaster prevention and mitigation is closely monitoring the water levels of Chalung and Mambang canals as well as Duson dam in Khuan Don district. Villagers will be warned immediately if the canals overflow.
