PATTAYA, Thailand – The week began on Tuesday, 22 July with an outing to the scenic Bangpakong Riverside Country Club. Morning coffee was taken under grey skies and a light drizzle, which led a few to sit out. But fortune favored those who teed off: the weather cleared on arrival, revealing a course in excellent condition.

Bangpakong’s layout demanded concentration, and an exciting duel emerged. David Lyon, in fine form, secured his second society win with 38 Stableford points, narrowly edging out Allan Cassin on 37 points. Derek Phillips followed with 36 points, while Lee Perram posted a respectable 35.

Later in the week, on Thursday, 24 July we played Laem Chabang International Country Club, widely regarded as one of the region’s toughest tests, in an outing held by special invitation to celebrate Dave Smith’s 60th birthday. The day brought perfect conditions—blue skies and a steady breeze over immaculate fairways and well-guarded greens.

Five flights tackled the Lake and Valley courses, with water hazards keeping players honest. The top of the field handled the challenge best. Allan Cassin maintained his strong run, winning with 38 Stableford points. Derek Phillips came in second with 36, while Lee Perram secured third on countback ahead of Peter Chai Tsai.

Adding extra intrigue, the red ball challenge saw each flight take turns playing one red ball throughout the round. Only Allan’s flight managed to bring theirs back safely to claim the prize.

Back at MyBar, we toasted Dave’s milestone birthday with a buffet, drinks, and cake, rounding off the day in good spirits.
