BANGKOK, Thailand – Yaowarat Road in Bangkok is glowing with colorful Chinese New Year lights as Thailand celebrates 51 years of diplomatic relations with China in the Year of the Golden Horse. The decorative display at the Royal Commemorative Arch was officially inaugurated by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, with Yang Xiao Long, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy, in attendance, along with senior police officers, district officials, business representatives, and private-sector partners.

The lighting installations stretch from Odeon Circle to Chaloem Buri Intersection under the theme “Ride the Fortune, Share the Future.” Illuminated arches and lanterns brighten Chinatown each evening from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. through March 1, creating a lively atmosphere that celebrates prosperity and the long-standing friendship between Thailand and China.

In addition to the Yaowarat display, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is organizing the Thailand Chinese New Year Festival 2026 at Siam Paragon from February 14 to 18. The event features cultural performances by troupes from Beijing, Chongqing, Henan, and Fujian, along with Thai–Chinese cultural showcases, large auspicious lantern installations, and appearances by prominent Chinese and Thai artists.

Chinese New Year celebrations are also underway in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, from February 17 to 20, as well as in Nakhon Sawan and Suphan Buri, where long-standing traditions continue to draw visitors. (NNT)
