YALA, 27 June 2014 – Yala province is beefing up security measures to guarantee the safety of local residents before the holy month of Ramadan begins.

Authorities have set up a new checkpoint at the Rot Fai fresh market, which is the biggest market in Yala, located close to the city’s key train station. All vehicles and suspicious persons will undergo a thorough inspection. Security officers are ordered to be extra cautious to provide maximum security for those who would come to buy food and necessary goods for their fasting ceremony.

Soldiers and local volunteers are also assisting those who come to the market in finding their parking spots and extending other services for shoppers who will bring a large amount of goods for their evening feast.
