BANGKOK, Thailand – Don Mueang Tourist Police helped a Vietnamese visitor and a taxi driver resolve a fare dispute on October 3 after the passenger was unable to pay in cash but could make payments through Alipay. The tourist approached officers at about 6.10 a.m., explaining that they had spent around two hours trying to find a way to withdraw cash to pay the fare.

Officers spoke with both parties and helped negotiate an alternative arrangement. Since the visitor could use Alipay to purchase goods but could not obtain cash, the passenger and driver agreed to settle the fare through an exchange of goods instead of money. The exchange was completed with both parties’ consent. The tourist and taxi driver thanked the officers for their assistance, according to a post by Don Mueang Tourist Police. The Tourist Police hotline is 1155 for visitors needing assistance in Thailand.
