BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai PM discusses trade talks with US Federal Reserve chairman in Bangkok

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met US Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok on October 16 to discuss progress in Thailand–US trade negotiations and factors affecting economic confidence amid global uncertainty.

Government spokesman Ekkaphop Phianphiset said Anutin welcomed continued close relations between Thailand and the United States, noting that he had held several meetings with the US president to exchange views on economic and trade issues. Negotiations between the two countries were continuing to make progress, he said.

The two leaders also discussed Thailand’s role on the international stage. Warsh praised Thailand’s hosting of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, saying the event demonstrated the country’s ability to accommodate international delegates and manage major global gatherings.

Warsh also expressed appreciation for the kindness and hospitality shown by Thai people, which the government said had helped create a positive image of Thailand and build confidence among international visitors.

The discussion also covered government stability and policy continuity, which the Thai government described as important factors in addressing challenges amid volatility in the global economy, trade and international relations. Anutin’s meeting with Warsh took place during the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, which brought international economic and financial leaders to Thailand.
