UDON THANI, Thailand – Park officials are investigating four unusual marks on rocks resembling dinosaur footprints discovered by a visitor at Phu Hin Chom That–Phu Phra Bat National Park (preparatory area) in Ban Phue district, Udon Thani.

The marks were spotted on October 19 by Pichai Prathetsena, who was exploring the area with his family near the Phu Phra Bat park protection unit. He shared photographs on social media, prompting park officials to inspect the site.

Park chief Winai Thongpan and his team examined the location and identified four marks that appear similar to footprints. Preliminary measurements put each mark at approximately 32 centimeters wide and 32 centimeters long, with about 80 centimeters between successive marks.

However, officials stressed that the marks have not been confirmed as dinosaur footprints. Their origin and possible connection to any dinosaur species remain subject to examination by geological and palaeontological experts.

The park thanked Pichai and his family for bringing the unusual formations to public attention, saying the discovery could have scientific significance for understanding the area’s natural features and geological history if verified. Officials said they would provide further updates when expert assessments become available.
