SAKAEO, Thailand — Two Thai gamblers attempting to return home after losing their passports as collateral at Poipet casinos were caught illegally crossing the Thai-Cambodian border through a natural path.
According to reports, last night, the Burapha Task Force, along with Aranyaprathet special units and the 12th Ranger Regiment patrol team, tightened security along the border. While patrolling near Klong Luek border crossing, officers spotted two women climbing over concertina wire barriers from Cambodia into Thailand near Dong Ngoo village, Pa Rai subdistrict, Aranyaprathet district.
The women were later identified as Ms. Juthawan, a Bangkok native who lost money gambling at the permanent border checkpoint in April 2025 and had pawned her passport at the casino, and Ms. Panadda from Khon Kaen, who had been gambling since August 2023 and crossed via natural routes.
Both confessed to authorities that they intended to return home and had agreed to sneak across the border, but were caught by the patrol.
They were handed over to police for legal proceedings. (TNA)
