Transport authorities have conducted rigorous inspection of public buses across Thailand ahead of the New Year’s holidays, and are ready to offer free vehicle checkups nationwide.

The Deputy Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, Kamol Buranaphong, said his agency has continued inspecting public buses and their drivers at all 212 stations nationwide. The road safety project is in cooperation with the Office of Vocational Education Commission.

Mr. Kamol said his department has also cooperated with its network partners and the private sector to provide free vehicle checkups at 2,300 centers throughout the country.
The department will inspect public vehicles and their drivers more stringently from December 28th, 2017 to January 3rd, 2018. If any substance or alcohol is detected on the drivers, they will be immediately replaced.
