TMAC reports continued progress in landmine clearance operations in Sisaket

Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) mine clearance and EOD teams conduct technical surveys and secure landmine-contaminated areas in Sisaket Province, as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate explosive threats and restore safety along the Thai–Cambodian border.

SISAKET, Thailand – The Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, through the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC), reported progress in mine clearance operations in Sisaket Province, clearing over 2,000 square meters of land and discovering eight additional landmines.

Mine Clearance and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams 1 and 2 conducted technical surveys in the Chong Phra Phalai area at Ranger Company 2609, Khun Han District. The teams opened safe access routes, expanded cleared areas along known mine lines, secured 685 square meters, and located four MBV 78 A1 anti-personnel mines, which were transported to temporary storage.



Operations in the Chong Phra Phalai area, covering 2,000 square meters since January 21, 2026, are now complete, and the area has been declared safe. Six explosive hazards were identified, including five MBV 78 A1 landmines and one 120-millimeter mortar round.

Separately, Mine Clearance Team 3 supported the 614th Cavalry Task Force Battalion, 2nd Army Region, at Ma Lek Base of Phu Pha Mok Subdistrict in Kantharalak District. The team cleared 1,485 square meters, discovering four PMN-2 landmines and one 100-millimeter mortar round, which were secured in a designated safe area at the base.

Since January 21, 2026, operations at Ma Lek Base have cleared 3,711 square meters and identified 10 explosive items, including nine PMN-2 landmines and one mortar round.

These operations demonstrate the ongoing commitment of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters and TMAC to eliminating landmine threats and restoring safety for communities along the Thai–Cambodian border. (NNT)
