BANGKOK, Thailand – Their Majesties the King and Queen have extended relief to more than 5,000 civilians displaced by recent clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border. The aid effort took place at Kantharalak Technical College in Sisaket province on July 26, now serving as a temporary shelter for evacuees from several subdistricts and urban areas within Kantharalak District.

Acting on His Majesty the King’s instructions, Privy Councillor Palakorn Suwannarat, President of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under the Royal Patronage delivered royal supplies on behalf of Their Majesties. The first recipients were 29 individuals, comprising bedridden patients and individuals with disabilities. The group is receiving medical attention from a team of doctors, nurses, and village health volunteers.

Additional supplies were later distributed to evacuees from Saothongchai, Non Samran, Phu Pha Mok, Bueng Malu, Rung, Sam, and Lalai subdistricts. School buildings and classrooms at the college have been converted into sleeping quarters to accommodate the displaced residents.

The Privy Councillor conveyed Their Majesties’ message of concern and encouragement to those affected by the conflict, which has caused sudden and severe disruption. The royal assistance was provided as a gesture of care and support during this difficult time. Their Majesties are being regularly updated on the situation and remain attentive to the needs of the people.

Following the relief distribution, the Privy Councillor visited the Royal Mobile Kitchen, which was operating at the college. Staffed by military personnel, disaster response officials, local administrators, and royal volunteers, the kitchen is preparing over 3,000 meal boxes per mealtime to serve those currently staying at the shelter. (NNT)
