Thailand’s Port Authority posts 7-billion-baht profit as vessel calls and cargo volumes surge in FY2025

PAT reports robust growth across all five major ports, with Laem Chabang and Bangkok Port leading strong gains in cargo and container throughput for Fiscal Year 2025.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has reported strong operating results for Fiscal Year 2025, with net profit rising to 7 billion baht and continued growth across vessel calls, cargo volume, and container throughput at all five PAT ports: Bangkok Port, Laem Chabang Port, Chiang Saen Port, Chiang Khong Port, and Ranong Port. PAT Director Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsuk stated that between October 2024 and September 2025, a total of 15,113 vessel calls were recorded, an increase of 4.61%.


Cargo volume reached 125.07 million tons, up 5.46%, while container throughput totaled 11.43 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), an increase of 6.44% from the previous year. Bangkok Port handled 4,460 vessel calls, an increase of 7.37%. Cargo throughput was 18.92 million tons, slightly lower by 0.49%, while container volume stood at 1.28 million TEUs, a 0.18% rise.

Laem Chabang Port recorded 10,653 vessel calls, up 3.50%, cargo volume of 106.15 million tons, up 6.60%, and container throughput of 10.15 million TEUs, a 7.28% increase, reflecting stable growth and strong service capability. Regional ports also showed positive momentum. Ranong Port reported a 95.24% increase in container throughput at 5,459 TEUs. Chiang Saen Port processed 187,000 tons of cargo, rising 62.72%, in line with expanding border trade and logistics flows within the BIMSTEC region.


The PAT Director noted that despite global economic volatility, PAT continued to perform steadily, achieving a net profit of 7.096 billion baht, driven by ongoing infrastructure and service enhancements to support growing logistics demand and strengthen Thailand’s maritime transport sector. In the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2026, PAT will advance key initiatives under the Ministry of Transport, including progress on Laem Chabang Port Phase 3, traffic improvements around Bangkok and Laem Chabang ports, and development of Ranong Port to support the Land Bridge project.
