BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed all ministries to accelerate the implementation of agreements and cooperation frameworks with the People’s Republic of China, following the historic State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen from November 13-17, 2025.
Government Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat announced the directives following the Prime Minister’s chairing of the weekly Cabinet meeting at Government House. He noted that the Royal Visit—undertaken at the invitation of President Xi Jinping—was the first official State Visit by a Thai monarch to China and coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized that all ministries must actively advance cooperation across all dimensions, including trade facilitation, product inspection, transport connectivity, and investment promotion, to ensure the maximum benefit to the nation and its people. He also instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to enhance inspection, quarantine, and sanitary certification procedures for agricultural, livestock, and fishery products exported to China.
The Cabinet was also informed that President Xi expressed China’s intention to purchase 500,000 tons of rice from Thailand. The Prime Minister tasked the Ministry of Commerce with finalizing delivery arrangements and requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to ensure adequate stocks of high-quality rice that meet China’s safety and quality standards.
In preparation for the upcoming Mekong–Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting, scheduled for mid-December in Bangkok, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to ensure full readiness in all areas, including protocol and hospitality, for the visit of the Chinese Premier. He also asked agencies to support public communication regarding Thailand–Cambodia issues, stressing the importance of clarifying that the President of the United States has confirmed that Thailand’s suspension of the peace declaration is not linked to ongoing Thailand–U.S. trade tariff negotiations.
The Prime Minister concluded by instructing the Ministry of Defence to expedite humanitarian demining operations, reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations and demonstrating responsible action to the international community. (NNT)
