Interior Ministry calls on all provinces to unite in honoring the King’s birthday with nationwide decorations, candle-lighting, and community service events from July 15–31.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Interior has instructed all provinces in Thailand to organize celebratory activities in honor of His Majesty the King’s birthday anniversary on July 28. The directive, issued on June 22 by Permanent Secretary Auttasit Sampantarat, calls for cooperation among central and local agencies to arrange tributes, ceremonies, and community events as a unified expression of loyalty and national gratitude.

The celebration will include three main components. First, government buildings and public venues will be decorated with the Thai national flag, the royal monogram flag, yellow and white fabrics, and lighting displays. Portraits of His Majesty and royal regalia will be placed on altar tables. Books for signing well-wishes will be available both on-site and online from July 15 to 31, accompanied by exhibitions showcasing His Majesty’s life and service.

On July 28, official ceremonies will begin at 7:00 a.m. with a Buddhist prayer and alms-giving. At 8:00 a.m., civil servants will participate in an oath ceremony reaffirming their public service. At 5:30 p.m., a tribute ceremony will be held, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony at 7:29 p.m. to offer blessings to His Majesty.

Volunteer activities will also be conducted in conjunction with the celebrations to support local communities. These are being coordinated by the Ministry of Interior’s Volunteer Affairs Steering and Coordination Center, with participation expected from both public and private sectors.

The Ministry has instructed provincial authorities to collaborate with district offices, local administrative bodies, educational institutions, and businesses to ensure broad engagement and consistent organization of the planned activities nationwide. (NNT)
