BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has made a major international appearance at Gamescom 2025, the world’s largest gaming expo held from August 20 to 24 in Cologne, Germany. As an official Partner Country, Thailand debuted its first-ever national pavilion, led by Prime Minister’s Office Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai and Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee. The pavilion featured 15 Thai gaming companies presenting original titles that draw from Thai culture, with backing from the Strategic Transformation Office and the Department of International Trade Promotion.
The Thailand Pavilion also hosted business matchmaking through a B2B networking event co-organized by the Thai government, giving developers the opportunity to connect with global partners. Thailand’s participation at Gamescom highlights the country’s growing influence in the gaming industry and its interest in expanding international reach for local creators.
Gamescom has become a major global platform for the gaming industry, attracting over 335,000 visitors and 1,400 companies in 2024. The global gaming market was valued at 272.86 billion US dollars in 2024 and is projected to reach 426 billion dollars by 2029. Thailand’s gaming sector, valued at 34.29 billion baht (around 980 million dollars) in 2023, accounted for 77.5% of the country’s total digital content market.
Building on the momentum, Thailand is preparing to host “Gamescom Asia × Thailand Game Show 2025” from October 16 to 19 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. The event, covering more than 30,000 square meters, is expected to draw over 200,000 attendees and feature both consumer and business zones, esports tournaments, indie games, cosplay, and live entertainment.
