Thailand proposes hosting regional cybercrime conference to boost ASEAN cooperation

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has announced Thailand’s plan to host a Regional Cybercrime Suppression Conference to enhance collaboration among ASEAN members and partner nations, following his participation in recent ASEAN summits with China, Japan, and South Korea.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has announced that Thailand will propose hosting a regional conference on cybercrime suppression to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN members and partner countries. The proposal was made following his participation in the 26th ASEAN–Republic of Korea Summit and the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit with China, Japan, and South Korea.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to work with regional partners to address cyber threats and transnational crimes. He also discussed expanding cybersecurity collaboration with the President of the Republic of Korea, underscoring the shared need for a coordinated regional response to digital crime.


To move the proposal forward, Prime Minister Anutin has assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lead coordination and planning for the Regional Cybercrime Suppression Conference in consultation with domestic and international agencies. The plan is set to focus on developing joint strategies and mechanisms to combat technology-driven offenses across the region. (NNT)
