BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Public Relations Department (PRD), led by Director-General Mrs. Sudruetai Lertkasem, actively participated in the 26th ASEAN Sub-Committee on Information (SCI) Meeting, highlighting its regional media initiatives and proposing a new flagship cultural project for 2026.

Accompanied by Mr. Supapong Chaolan, Executive Director of the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), and PRD officials, the Thai delegation joined representatives from all ten ASEAN member states, with Timor-Leste attending as an observer. The meeting served as a platform to review progress and advance joint information strategies under ASEAN cooperation.

PRD Thailand presented updates on ongoing projects, including “A Journey of ASEAN Flavours,” which showcases the region’s culinary heritage through immersive activities and media production. It also reported on Thailand’s collaboration in projects such as Myanmar’s “Vivid ASEAN,” which features ASEAN’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Mrs. Sudruetai expressed appreciation for the continued support from member states and Timor-Leste and extended an invitation to the upcoming AIBD General Conference to be hosted by Thailand in August in Phuket.

The meeting also acknowledged Thailand’s proposal for the 2026 flagship project titled “ASEAN Night Spirits Festival,” which will explore local folklore and shared beliefs through creative digital storytelling formats, led by youth. A detailed proposal will be submitted to the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) for final approval.

The SCI Meeting continues to play a vital role in shaping ASEAN’s regional communication efforts, strengthening cultural ties, and promoting public awareness across the region. (NNT)
