BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports is considering extending the opening hours of the Su-Ngai Kolok border checkpoint — the largest border trading area between Narathiwat Province, Thailand, and Rantau Panjang, Malaysia — from the current 05.00-21.00 hr to 05.00-23.00 hr.
The proposed extension aims to facilitate travel by local residents and Malaysian tourists and is expected to positively boost cross-border trade, tourism, and the border economy.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn will hold discussions with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Deputy Prime Minister Captain Thammanat Prompow.
The initiative is part of the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Narathiwat Province, aimed at improving the quality of life for people in border areas. (PRD)
