
BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn met with a delegation from Huawei Technologies (Thailand) to discuss digital technologies that could support future transport and logistics operations. The talks, held at the Ministry of Transport, focused on the application of advanced technology across Thailand’s transport systems.
The Huawei delegation was led by William Zhang, vice president of Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group. Senior officials from the Ministry of Transport, including Permanent Secretary Chayatan Phromsorn and representatives from the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, also attended the meeting.
Phiphat outlined the ministry’s approach to keeping pace with technological developments, including digital systems and artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, safety, and service quality in transport. He stated that such technologies directly affect daily travel by improving convenience, safety, and cost efficiency for the public.
Discussions covered the use of digital tools and AI for traffic management and safety, real-time travel monitoring and control systems, integrated transport data management, and technology to support infrastructure operations during emergencies such as natural disasters or severe weather.
Officials also reviewed progress on a proposed framework for cooperation in human resource development and knowledge exchange in information and communication technology. The framework seeks to strengthen digital skills among public-sector personnel and expand the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence across road, rail, water, and air transport, supporting the continued modernization of Thailand’s transport sector.
