
BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has invited the public to take part in National Mother’s Day celebrations on August 12, coinciding with the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The main commemorative events will be held at Sanam Luang in Bangkok.
According to Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub, the program will feature a Buddhist prayer and alms-giving ceremony, a royal offering with floral arrangements, and a candle-lighting ceremony to extend blessings for Her Majesty’s continued happiness and well-being. Similar activities will be organized by government agencies and institutions nationwide to honor Her Majesty’s decades of service to the Thai people.
National Mother’s Day is observed annually to recognize the contributions and devotion of The Queen Mother, whose work has supported communities and improved livelihoods across the country. The government is encouraging wide participation in both the central and local events.
The Cabinet meeting originally scheduled for August 12 has been canceled. The next meeting is set for August 19. (NNT)
