Minister Chaichanok Chidchob says Thailand will amend its technology crime laws within two months while accelerating development of “Quantum Security” systems and expanding international cooperation to combat online scams, cybercrime, and human trafficking.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES) Chaichanok Chidchob announced a major initiative to strengthen national cybersecurity, with plans to finalize amendments to the Emergency Decree on Prevention and Suppression of Technology Crimes within two months.

The Minister has directed relevant agencies to accelerate the study and development of “Quantum Security,” a cybersecurity framework intended to protect data from emerging threats that could exceed current encryption and security technologies.

To combat cybercrime, the Minister plans to adopt international cooperation models, such as the recent agreement with Vietnam, to enhance data sharing on transnational crimes, including online scams and human trafficking. Insights from these collaborations will inform updates to the Emergency Decree, with legislative changes expected within one to two months.

The Minister also discussed the restructuring of the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA), which is being transferred from the Prime Minister’s supervision back to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. He expressed confidence in a smooth transition and will personally oversee the DGA’s operations to ensure integrated digital government development. (NNT)
