BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Pirapan Salirathavibhaga has concluded a five-day visit to China to strengthen cooperation in clean and renewable energy, with a focus on solar technology. From May 26 to 30, he led a delegation to Jiangsu province and Shanghai, meeting with top solar firms to explore ways to reduce electricity costs and expand access to sustainable energy.

The delegation held talks with six major companies involved in solar panel production, inverters, energy storage, and energy management systems. These included GoodWe Technologies, Canadian Solar Inc., Trina Solar, Changzhou Almaden, JinkoSolar, and Sungrow. Discussions covered technological capabilities and potential collaboration in Thailand’s growing solar market.

Support during the visit was provided by Shi Yonghong, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, and Wang Shuzi, an advisor on energy and solar cooperation. Their involvement helped facilitate productive exchanges between the Thai delegation and industry leaders.

The visit is expected to accelerate the adoption of solar energy, promote energy diversification, and reduce the financial burden of electricity costs, creating pathways for more affordable and efficient solar systems for Thai households.

All six companies expressed interest in working with Thailand on solar-related projects aligned with the minister’s proposals. Further coordination is expected to facilitate the practical implementation of these discussions in the coming months. (NNT)
