Thai-Cambodian coordination clears 32 backlogged cargo trucks at Ban Phak Kad checkpoint in Chanthaburi.

CHANTHABURI, Thailand – The Chanthaburi-Trat Border Protection Force has successfully coordinated with Cambodian authorities to clear a backlog of 32 Thai cargo trucks stuck at the Ban Phak Kad permanent border crossing due to border closure measures on the Cambodian side. The trucks were delayed since June 13 but have now been allowed to return to Thailand.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyanpan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Navy, stated that while Ban Phak Kad has resumed normal cargo flow, the Ban Laem permanent border checkpoint remains restricted. Only individual crossings are permitted there, and Thai pushcarts carrying agricultural produce are still not allowed to enter Cambodia.

The delays stemmed from Cambodia’s temporary checkpoint closures. Thai authorities have been in continuous communication with Cambodian counterparts since yesterday to prevent disruption to border trade and ease the hardship for affected transporters. The Cambodian side eventually reopened gates for cargo movement around 5 p.m. on June 13, allowing trucks on both sides to move. (TNA)
