
PHUKET, Thailand – The Ministry of Culture, through the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), has unveiled the second group of 15 Thai and international artists selected to participate in the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025.
Set to run from November 2025 to April 2026, the international contemporary art festival will showcase works under the theme “Eternal Kalpa,” reflecting themes of impermanence, love, and sustainability through nature-inspired art.
This second group joins the previously announced 30 artists, bringing the total to 56 of the planned 65 participants. The latest selections include artist collectives and individuals: Alex Monteith & Maree Sheehan – Auckland (artist collective), Ayoung Kim – Seoul, Koneksi Tamalanrea – Tamalan, Maline Yim – Siem Reap, Oat Montien (Pattanapong Muntheun) – Bangkok, Oliver Laric – Berlin, Pauline Curnier Jardin & Feel Good Cooperative – Marseille (artist collective), Saroot Supasuthivech – Bangkok, Serene Hui – Netherlands and Hong Kong, SAR Supapong Laodheerasiri – Bangkok, Supitcha Tovivich – Bangkok, Thuy Tien Nguyen – Hanoi and Frankfurt, Wilawan Wiangthong – Loei Province, Wu Chi-Yu – Taipei, Zhao Yao – Beijing.
Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 is designed to position Phuket as a “City of Creative Art” and boost its profile as a cultural tourism hub. By blending international collaboration with local engagement, the project aims to generate sustainable economic benefits and nurture regional artistic talent.
Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat emphasized the province’s partnership with the Ministry of Culture and OCAC to support the festival. Ongoing efforts include community engagement, artist site visits, and local preparations for hosting installations across all three districts of Phuket:
Moreover, Artistic Directors Arin Rungjang and David Teh revealed that artists are currently developing context-specific works inspired by Phuket’s heritage and landscape.
